It's opened my world up to many others who have children with special needs. Some our my closest friends now. The friendships I have developed with the children themselves brings me joy and gives me an opportunity to learn to communicate on a new level. Since the need to homeschool (due to the special needs) came into our lives I have the life changing chance to learn and relearn all over again. That blessing is deep and wide! I would have to say that one of the greatest blessings to having a special needs child is the refinement process the parent goes through. Developing patience, practicing forgiveness, becoming more gentle and understanding, seeing things from a different perspective, accepting different learning styles and not demanding my own way are just some of what continually transpires from dealing, working and living with one who has special needs. When I cooperate with God I can accept this as a huge blessing from Him; otherwise it is a huge burden. Thanks for letting me share. This from another aunt who loves you much!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
